À travers les modèles, théories et recherches, l’ouvrage tente de clarifier le vocabulaire qu’utilisent les sociologues pour décrire le travail professionnel, analyser la dynamique des groupes professionnels et des marchés du travail, interpréter l’évolution des systèmes et des identités professionnelles. Cette troisième édition, revue et augmentée, prend acte des nombreux travaux suscités en France par cette discipline depuis une décennie et fait le point sur les nouvelles avancées au niveau international. Claude DUBAR est professeur de sociologie émérite à l’université de Versailles- Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, ancien directeur du laboratoire Printemps (Professions- Institutions-Temporalités) associé au CNRS. Pierre TRIPIER est professeur de sociologie émérite à l’université de Versailles- Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, membre du laboratoire Printemps. Valérie BOUSSARD est professeure de sociologie à l’université de Paris-Ouest- Nanterre-La Défense, membre du laboratoire Printemps.
